Coaching

What is coaching?

Coaching is done through using an individual's strengths to improve functioning in a given area. It is different from therapy because there is an assumption that if a psychiatric condition exists, it is managed through other treatments or is well managed at the time. Coaching is not used to manage symptoms of psychiatric conditions.

Why do people hire coaches?

  • Improved Productivity
  • Implementing structure to increase a certain activity such as exercise, enjoyable activities, etc.
  • Developing a sense of BALANCE in life
  • Helping new moms to adjust to balancing all the demands of being a mother with other responsibilities

Can coaching be used to improve concentration, attention and memory?

Yes! Dr. Parks-Cohen has developed a specialized type of coaching called Neurocognitive Coaching. She blends techniques from coaching and therapy with principles of neuropsychology to help individuals to optimize cognitive functioning by targeting their specific cognitive vulnerability.

Individuals may also request a neuropsychological evaluation prior to the start of neurocognitive coaching sessions to determine an individual's cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities.

Coaching sessions are not covered by insurance and are a private pay service.
